Other appointment slots may also be available by request. To request an appointment NOT in the schedule below, please contact us.

Form 8500-8 on the MedXPress

  1. Begin by logging into the FAA’s MedXPress website. If it’s your first FAA exam, request a new account. Retrieve the temporary password from your email and use it to log back into the MedXPress site.

  1. When filling out Item 19 (Visits to Health Professionals Within Last 3 Years), remember to list each physician only once. If you’ve had multiple visits to one physician, you can provide further details in the “Remarks” section, like “multiple visits for…”

  1. Once the form is complete, click “Submit”. You’ll receive a Confirmation Number, which is also printed at the bottom of the FAA Form 8500-8.

  1. It’s crucial to record this confirmation number and bring it with you to your FAA Exam appointment. Having a CONFIRMATION NUMBER is essential for a smooth process.

BasicMed Option

Congress has introduced a new program that grants pilots the ability to fly, with specific limitations, without the need for an FAA Medical Certificate.

Starting from May 1, 2017, pilots can operate under BasicMed, foregoing the requirement for an FAA Medical Certificate, provided they adhere to outlined regulations and restrictions.

For a comprehensive overview of BasicMed, you can visit the FAA’s dedicated summary page by clicking on this link: BasicMed

Additionally, we’ve included a link below to the FAA Advisory Circular (AC No. 68-1A), which officially authorizes the BasicMed program.

CACI – Conditions AMEs Can Issue

Currently, there are 17 medical conditions for which an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) is authorized to issue medical certificates, eliminating the need for an FAA decision.

You can conveniently download all 17 CACI Worksheets below in the “CACI Worksheets” section. They are also accessible on the FAA website through this link: CACI

If you possess one of these conditions, you and your doctor can review the corresponding CACI Worksheet to determine if you meet the specified criteria for each condition. Upon meeting the conditions, your doctor can then complete the checklist and sign the form. This completed form should be brought to our office at the time of your examination.

Medical Standards Required for an FAA Medical Certificate

You can read about the synopsis of medical standards required by the FAA: FAA Medical Standards.

Medical Certificate Validity

Here’s a summary of the FAA’s medical certification durations:

  • First Class Medical for Pilots Under 40: Valid for one year; after one year, it drops to a 3rd Class and remains valid for an additional four years.

  • First Class Medical for pilots 40 and older: Valid for six months; after six months, it drops to a 2nd Class for another six months, and then becomes a 3rd Class for one year.

  • Second Class Medical: Valid for one year for all ages. After one year, it drops to a 3rd Class for four years if under age 40; for those 40 or older, it drops to a 3rd Class for one year.

  • Third Class Medical for pilots under 40: Valid for five years (60 calendar months) from the exam date.

  • Third Class Medical for pilots 40 years or older: Valid for two years (24 calendar months) from the exam date.

Feel free to reach out today to learn more about the medical certification process.

FAA Medical Certificate is misplaced or lost?

  • If you’re facing the situation of a misplaced or lost FAA Medical Certificate, you can refer to the FAA website’s “Lost Medical Certificate” section for guidance on the replacement process. Here’s a summary of the key points:

    1. An airman medical certificate is considered valid only when it bears the original signature of the Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) who conducted the examination, or the digital signature of an authorized FAA physician (e.g., Regional Flight Surgeon, manager of the Aerospace Medical Certification Division, Federal Air Surgeon).
    2. Copies or duplicates of the certificate are not considered valid.
    3. An AME is permitted to issue only one originally signed certificate to an airman. In the case of a lost or destroyed certificate, a replacement must be issued by the FAA.

For further detailed information and steps, please refer to the FAA’s official website.
